Phebe Parisia
PARTS OF THE WHOLE
2015
14.8 x 21cm
Series of 50
Permanent marker on cotton rag paper/
Pen and Ink on cotton rag paper
In the beginning this work existed as 3 large panels, two had been actioned with marker, one had been actioned with pen and ink, each mark relating to movement, time and space.
Each work in its entirety was the mapping and actioning of a moment in time - later, mimicking the action of recalling a memory, the works in their entirety were cut into fragments.
The work you hold is now a fragment of the original thought and action, a part of the whole, the original action and thought now dispersed into parts by structure and location.

Bachelor of Fine Art (Drawing) First Class Honours, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, 2007

Phebe Parisia’s practice concentrates on the conceptual and material relationships between the body, time and materiality. The conceptual basis of her practice is the use of repetition, the mark and the action, with the materiality of energetic interactions enabling the work to become externalised — thinking as embodied process.

Phebe Parisia has exhibited in Australia and internationally, and her work is held in private collections in Australia and Iceland and public collections in Australia.
